TheRP2040 is a low-cost, high-performance microcontroller with flexible digital interfaces. The RP2040 is manufactured on a 40-nanometer process node, providing high performance, low dynamic power consumption and low leakage, as well as multiple low-power modes to support long battery life. With large on-board memory, a symmetrical dual-core processor, deterministic bus structure, and a rich set of peripherals complemented by a unique Programmable Input/Output (PIO) subsystem, it provides professional users with unmatched power and flexibility.
The RP2040 is a non-stateful device with support for cached in-place execution from external QSPI memory. This design solution allows you to select the appropriate non-volatile memory density for your application and benefit from the low cost of standard Flash components.
The RP2040 features two M0+ processor cores, DMA, internal memory and peripheral blocks connected via an AHB/APB bus structure. Code can be executed directly from external memory via a dedicated SPI, DSPI or QSPI interface. A small cache improves the performance of typical programs. Debugging is available via the SWD interface. The internal SRAM can contain code or data. It is addressed as a single 264 KB area, but physically divided into 6 banks to allow simultaneous parallel access from different masters. DMA bus masters are available to offload repetitive data transfer tasks from the processors. GPIO pins can be driven directly or from a variety of dedicated logic functions, and highly configurable PIO controllers can be used to provide a wide range of I/O functions. A USB controller with an integrated PHY can be used to provide FS/LS host connectivity or a software-controlled device. Four ADC inputs that are used in conjunction with the GPIO pins.
Two FFT circuits to provide a fixed frequency of 48 MHz for USB or ADC and a flexible system frequency of up to 133 MHz. Internal voltage regulator to supply the core voltage, so the final product only needs the I/O voltage.
