In recent years Royal Mail and courier services have introduced much stricter rules for shipping lithium batteries. We comply with these requirements to ensure safe and lawful delivery.
Battery categories
Some of our products contain lithium batteries. They generally fall into one of two categories:
Category 1: batteries within or supplied with products, including:
- Products with pre-installed lithium batteries
- Products supplied with lithium batteries but not installed
Category 2: standalone batteries (not part of a product), including:
- 18650 cells
- LiPo cells
- Power banks
- Coin-cell batteries
What this means for your order
If your order contains a battery with a product (Category 1)
- ✅ We can ship these across the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland).
- ❌ We cannot ship these internationally (including Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man).
If your order contains standalone batteries (Category 2)
- ✅ We can ship these within England and Wales.
- ❌ We cannot ship these to Scotland (see below).
- ❌ We cannot ship these to Northern Ireland.
- ❌ We cannot ship these internationally (including Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man).
Why we cannot ship standalone batteries to Scotland
While we can ship lithium products (Category 1) to Scotland via Royal Mail, standalone lithium batteries (Category 2) cannot be shipped there. Royal Mail does not accept them, and DHL serves Scotland via its air network, where lithium shipments are prohibited.
We dislike this restriction as much as you do and continue to work with DHL to find solutions so that all UK customers can access our full product range.
Why not use a different courier for Scotland?
We have shipped parcels since 2012 and tested nearly every courier service. DHL has proven the most reliable. Other couriers repeatedly let us down with missing parcels, damaged items, failed collections and other issues.
How to know if a product contains lithium
We clearly highlight this information on any product containing lithium. You will see it on the product page (usually near the top of the description) and in your cart, where it is marked in red.
Does lithium shipping cost more?
In some cases having lithium products in your cart may increase the shipping cost.
To check the exact cost, go to your cart and use the “Estimate Shipping” option.
Why can’t you just remove the battery for me?
We ship hundreds of orders a day (thousands during big launches) with highly streamlined processes to ensure speed and efficiency.
Manually removing batteries from individual orders would slow down our workflow for all customers and create significant disposal costs. For this reason, we cannot currently offer this option.
