The Asus Tinker Board S R2.0 microcomputer is an Arm-based single board computer (SBC) that uses a 64-bit 4-core Rockchip RK3288-CG.W processor, which provides enhanced computing performance with low power consumption. It is equipped with 2GB of 2-channel LPDDR3 RAM, and an SD 3.0 interface is used for high-speed data exchange with a memory card.
Unlike the "junior" Asus Tinker Board R2.0 model, the Tinker Board S R2.0 has:
- Built-in eMMC storage with a capacity of 16GB.
- Compatible with HDMI-CEC 1 MIPI DSI connector (15-pin, supports resolutions up to HD)
- Automatic audio stream redirection when a playback device is connected
- 40-pin GPIO connector (with improved I2S interface)
- 2-pin eMMC drive recovery / 2-pin power-on connector
- Automatic detection of insufficiently high input voltage of the power supply.
Other features of the models are identical.

The Mali™-T764 GPU enables a wide range of applications, including high-quality media playback, gaming, computer vision, gesture recognition, image stabilization and processing, and photo processing, among others. HD and UHD video playback at 30 frames per second on the Tinker Board S R2.0 is currently only available through the included media player. Third-party video players and apps may not offer hardware acceleration, resulting in limited or unstable playback performance.

Main features of the Tinker Board R2.0 series:
- Equipped with an HD codec that supports audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, and the integrated audio connector supports audio output and microphone input without an expansion module. The audio jack also provides connection detection and automatically switches the audio output to the audio jack when a speaker or headset is connected.

- It has standard communication interfaces, including a 40-pin GPIO interface, which allows you to interact with various inputs. The Tinker Board R2.0 series is equipped with a single DSI MIPI connection for displays and touch screens. The secondary CSI MIPI connection is designed to connect to compatible cameras that provide computer vision and more. It has a full-size HDMI output and includes four USB 2.0 ports for advanced peripheral and accessory connectivity.

- Features Gbit LAN for Internet and network connectivity. Dedicated bus resource assigned to the LAN port ensures consistent Ethernet performance. The built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controller on the Tinker Board S is protected by a metal cover to ensure minimal interference and improved radio performance. The integrated IPEX antenna connector allows for easy antenna replacement or upgrade.
- The dimensions and topology of the Tinker Board R2.0 series PCB follow the standard dimensions of single-board computers, allowing for support of a wide range of expansion cards and physical accessories. The PCB is labeled with pinout symbols to enhance connection clarity. The built-in MIPI connectors also have color-coded labels.

-
The Tinker Board R2.0 series also includes a heat sink that provides the best thermal solution for heavy load or hot environments. With an easy installation, the aluminum heatsink body helps dissipate heat without a fan, ensuring first-class Tinker Board performance.
-
Supports MIPI Convert Board and PoE Splitter Board to increase convenience and functionality in various scenarios.
-
Runs on TinkerOS, an operating system based on Debian. The desktop environment is LXDE, which is optimized for computers with limited technical resources. TinkerOS is able to work with the NTFS file system, which allows you to easily connect flash drives and external drives formatted for Windows. The standard web browser is based on the Chromium core, which is fast and stable, and complements its capabilities with a number of extension modules. Thanks to hardware acceleration implemented by ASUS developers, it perfectly copes with displaying web pages and playing online videos, including in HD resolution. TinkerOS also includes a number of popular programming systems such as IDLE/Python and Squeak/Scratch.
-
In addition to TinkerOS and Debian, the Tinker Board computer supports the Android operating system, which opens up new possibilities for its use, including multimedia content playback, games, and much more.
