The Arduino MKR WAN 1310 board is a practical and cost-effective solution for projects that require connecting various sensors and actuators using the capabilities of the LoRa® wireless protocol or in long-distance LoRaWAN™ networks.
This open-source board can be connected, using Arduino Create, to your own LoRa® network using the Arduino Pro Gateway for LoRa®, or to an existing LoRaWAN™ infrastructure such as The Things Network, or even to other boards that use direct connection mode.
TheArduino MKR WAN 1310 has a number of improvements over its predecessor, the MKR WAN 1300. Although it is still based on the low-power Atmel SAMD21 processor, Murata CMWX1ZZABZ LoRa® module and MKR family cryptographic coprocessor (ECC508), the MKR WAN 1310 includes a new charger, 2 MB SPI flash memory and improved board power management.
The modern architecture has significantly improved battery life, and when properly configured, power consumption is now only 104µA! You can use the USB port to supply power (5V) to the board, and it's up to you to run the board with or without batteries.
Wireless updates and other OTA (Over The Air) functions are now possible thanks to the built-in 2 MB SPI Flash memory. This feature will allow you to transfer configuration files from the network to the board, create your own script commands, or simply store data locally to send it at any time convenient for you. At the same time, the ECC508 cryptographic coprocessor enhances security by storing credentials and certificates in a built-in secure memory sector. These features make the Arduino MKR WAN 1310 ideal IoT nodes for building LoRa-based networks.
