Coral Dev Board 1GB is a microcomputer from Google for creating and running machine learning and artificial intelligence projects. This single-board computer is ideal for performing machine learning (ML) in a small form factor. You can use the Dev Board to prototype an embedded system and then scale it up to production scale using the built-in Coral System-on-Module (SoM) system combined with dedicated PCB hardware.
The main advantages of the Coral Dev Board are
- Provides high-speed logic output. The built-in Edge TPU coprocessor is capable of performing 4 trillion operations (tera-operations) per second (TOPS) using 0.5 watts per TOPS (2 TOPS per watt). For example, it can run state-of-the-art mobile vision models such as MobileNet v2 at nearly 400 fps in a power-efficient manner.
- Provides a complete system. The single-board computer, which contains SoC + ML + wireless connectivity, runs a derivative version of Debian Linux (called Mendel), so you can run your favorite Linux tools with this board.
- Supports TensorFlow Lite. No need to build models from scratch. TensorFlow Lite models can be compiled to run on the Edge TPU.
- Scale from prototype to production. Takes into account your production needs. The SoM can be removed from the main board, ordered in bulk, and integrated into your hardware.
