The Hailo AI Acceleration Module is a 13 TOPS neural network accelerator built on the Hailo-8L chip. The module uses the M.2 2242 form factor and communicates with the Raspberry Pi 5 using the Raspberry PI M.2 HAT+ access.
When an updated Raspberry Pi OS image is running on the Raspberry Pi 5 host, it automatically detects the Hailo module and makes the NPU available for AI computing tasks. The built-in camera applications rpicam-apps in the Raspberry Pi OS support the AI module by automatically using the NPU to perform compatible post-processing tasks.
